Body on Yoga

So we've all heard that yoga is good for you, but in what specific ways? We know it makes us feel better, but the benefits are so much deeper. Huffington Post published this article that shows how yoga changes our body and brain even after one class. The longer we practice, the more benefits we gain. A dedicated yoga practice actually transforms us and can transform our lives.

Yoga for your neck

Many of us struggle with neck issues. I went to a chiropractor for almost two years for my neck - scar tissue from old injuries, poor posture, and years of full-time work at a computer resulted in constant pain and loss of mobility. I'm happy to say that my neck is much better now, thanks to my wonderful chiropractor and a steady yoga practice. However, I do get flair ups now and then. I found this article from Yogaonline.com very informative. Stretching is not always the same as relaxing. Hope you enjoy it!

About me

Hello everyone and welcome to my page!
completed my 200 hour Yoga Alliance certification with Pilgrimage of the Heart Yoga in San Diego in spring 2013. I am currently in an Advanced 300 hr Teacher Training Program with A Gentle Way Yoga. I discovered yoga almost twenty years ago, and while things in my life have sometimes pulled me away, I have always returned to the mat. I set the goal of becoming a teacher a several years ago and am thrilled that I recently fulfilled that dream!

My style is hatha yoga with focus on alignment, building strength and flexibility and getting more in tune with how body, breath and mind are connected. My approach is slow and gentle and have advanced training in working with larger bodies, seniors, and people with injuries or other limitations. Yoga is a never-ending journey.  I encourage students to explore new poses while always listening to their body. I am dedicated to sharing yoga traditions and lifestyle and have been told by others that I am a warm and engaging yoga teacher, I have been recognized for being able to conduct classes that foster an inviting, invigorating, centering, and calming environment.

I am proud of my ability to empathize and develop relationships with people of multiple abilities and backgrounds. I also bring years of relevant experience working in public health with diverse populations and different cultures.
